If Maria is so "keen," how in the world did she let Jeff Bezos play her for a tool on Friday? My gosh, Maria looked like those Billy the Singing Bass deals they sell in Walgreens, she had Bezos' hook so firmly stuck in her gills. Let's see...Bezos starts his roadshow to prop up his POS stock Thursday...no one listens, stock goes down in an up market. Well, what's a high-profile CEO to do? Why of course...call Maria! Sure enough, Maria's on the floor the next day, singing Bezos' praises, without doing one iota of research to see how much sunshine he blew up her skirt. First, she sings his song of "the Street is misguided when they ask us to produce earnings..." Well sure, I guess if I was the CEO of a company hopelessly unable to produce profits, that would be my battle cry too--"Profits??? Who said anything about profits???" Second, she cries out, "they'll have ONE BILLION in cash next year!" If Maria was a journalist, she would've checked to see how much of that ONE BILLION was due to creditors soon thereafter. Instead she let Bezos plant the hook that couldn't be planted in any investment bankers' gills. Have you ever seen someone hoot-and-holler from the floor of the NYSE about a stock whose book value has a minus sign in front of the number? Pretty pathetic... Third, you never heard Maria tell viewers that, while Bezos was out doing a last-gasp attempt at propping up his joke-of-a-company, that SAME DAY Drugstore.com proclaimed they were cutting their payment to AMZN from $75 million to $30 million. Yep, that came out on Friday...certainly a material event, yet Maria didn't mention it. And you call her a journalist? My god Lorrie, get a clue...she's a professional shill. I give her 110% credit for promoting herself as the most popular person on financial TV, but as for credibility, she doesn't cut it--PERIOD! The evidence speaks for itself...she's too busy trying to schmooze with the big shots to ever get the full picture of what's going on...case-in-point, her Jeff Bezos faux pas. I'm embarrassed for her. Again, I admire her for how she has promoted herself...marketing-wise, I wish I could do so well. But, calling her a journalist is quite a stretch, in the same vein as calling Jerry Springer a journalist is a stretch. Both cater to the trailer park masses with no regard to truth or self-respect. She wants to be famous and she cut some corners to get there. Fair enough. But as far as credibility...well...let's face it, who was tops on Bezos' list of possible shills when the investment bankers wouldn't bite on his POS? Disclosure: short AMZN, heavily long the energy sector. When Maria starts shilling with the energy guys, that's when I'm getting out. Hell, by that time, Amazon will be at $5 and it may be time to go long.
