And don't forget that most of those CLECs also have inter-locking agreements among themselves where they have traded fiber capacity like so many of those Pokemon cards. If you want to see a really tortured balance sheet look at this:

They owe Level 3 a few HUNDRED million for fiber trunks alone.

$10B+ cap with $30B+ in debt, negative book value and a negative $281M EBITA. Fortunately for Craig though he has reached that state of debtor Nirvana where he has borrowed SO much money the creditors really can't do much to him - he now "owns the bank" as they used to say in the Texas S&L days. And if they can dodge the debt bullet they have some interesting technology and business model.
