SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 18, 2000--Bruce Bonner, principal analyst for Gartner's Dataquest semiconductor group, has died after a one and half year battle with brain cancer. Mr. Bonner passed away Saturday, August 12. Mr. Bonner had been a Dataquest analyst for the past four years. He was responsible for Dataquest's coverage of flash memory ICs and most recently for coverage of processors in PCs and computing applications. Mr. Bonner had become a well-renowned spokesperson for the semiconductor industry. "Soon after Bruce joined the company, he made his name become synonymous with the flash memory business. He brought a rare depth of understanding to the market," said Jim Handy, principal analyst for Dataquest's semiconductor group. "We all felt fortunate to have Bruce as a Dataquest analyst." Mr. Bonner held various positions within the computer industry. He was a marketing manager for flash memories at Intel, and before that, he held various marketing and management positions in the mass storage industry with Western Digital, Mitsubishi Electronics America, and Applied Magnetics. Mr. Bonner is survived by his two sons Adam and Bryan. A private ceremony is planned for next week.
