Hi all; News from pre IDF of a year ago...

It turns out that that IDF was the one where Intel announced support for PC133. This was predicted in the trade press some days in advance, by none other than you guy's favorite, Jack Robertson:

Intel may push separate 133-MHz SDRAM spec
Intel Corp.'s pending endorsement of 133-MHz SDRAM is likely to include a new set of interface specifications that will create a rival standard to the PC133 chips now coming onto the market, according to a variety of industry sources.
...
Intel has long spurned PC133, adamantly sticking to a plan to move directly from PC100 SDRAM to Direct Rambus. The company last month finally softened its stance, confirming that customer demand for faster SDRAM memory had prompted it to consider a 133-MHz alternative.

Funny thing, history, sometimes it repeats, sometimes it doesn't. The VIA guy said that this time (i.e. DDR) it was going to repeat.
