PT,

>Actually, since I first entered AMD in the $26-$35 range the numbers are familiar.>

A 3:1 split would have taken the post-split AMD share prices to the low twenties. Hope we see another AMD share split in the next five to nine months :-)

Saw this over at Ace's (http://www.aceshardware.com/):

Thanks to dk for pointing me towards this link, indicating that Sys (KryoTech system integrators) no longer anticipate shipments of 1.25 GHz Kryocooled systems, as reported earlier, because air-cooled solutions will be at similar frequencies within the same time-frame. Instead, the company is planning on shipping 1.5 GHz systems starting in October. However, there is potential for another delay depending upon availablility of DDR platforms.

Original source (http://www.sys.com/products/cold-fusion/desktops.html):

SYS Cold-Fusion system configurations based on the new AMD Athlon with Enhanced Cache (Thunderbird) processor will be added presently. At this time (mid-August) it appears unlikely that we will post the new configurations before mid to late September - for shipments in October. In October we expect to be shipping systems running at approximately 1.5GHz.

Please note that the September and related October time frames are tentative. There are several inter-related technologies, and their associated development schedules, that may cause us to delay the release beyond these dates. In particular, there is the possibility of the release of motherboards which support DDR (double data rate) SDRAM. [Dual processor-based configurations are not expected to be available before Q1 2001.]

We sincerely regret the inconvenience these delays cause. However, there seems to be little good reason to launch a product just to have it upstaged within a few weeks by the “next big thing”.

Thanks for your continuing patience.
