FastLane DM/Consolidator Upgrade Supports Network Appliance Storage Products -- Enables Enterprises to Seamlessly Migrate Data to Network Appliance(TM) Filers While Maintaining Security Permissions and On-line User Access -- OTTAWA, CANADA, Aug. 22 /CNW/ - FastLane Technologies Inc., a leading developer of Directory Management software solutions, today announced that FastLane(TM) DM/Consolidator 2.5 supports Network Appliance (NASDAQ:NTAP - news) storage appliances, enabling enterprises to easily migrate their Windows NT data to NetApp® filers while maintaining security permissions and on-line user access. With the growing need to store and retrieve massive amounts of data and the realization that fewer servers lead to reduced cost and easier management, IT departments have been turning to large specialized storage systems, and in particular to Network Appliance solutions. However, until DM/Consolidator, migrating data from many sources to consolidated storage solutions was time- consuming and technically cumbersome. DM/Consolidator 2.5 makes it easy.
"DM/Consolidator 2.0 was the industry's first data movement application that automated the arduous task of consolidating servers or just migrating data between servers without losing permissions or taking data off-line. Since its release last year, customers have been asking for a version that specifically allows them to move data to NetApp filers," said David Waugh, FastLane's vice president of marketing. "Today, we're pleased to announce DM/Consolidator 2.5 which addresses this need and is a result of cooperation between two industry leaders: FastLane and Network Appliance."
"Network Appliance is delighted that FastLane is now supporting data migration to our storage appliances. Customers deploying our storage solutions will benefit greatly from the improved data availability and automated preservation of security settings that DM/Consolidator offers," said Paul Hansen, senior director of product marketing at Network Appliance. "By combining our efforts, Network Appliance and FastLane now provide a solution to our customers that makes data consolidation painless and decreases network costs."
FastLane DM/Consolidator allows administrators to:
- Migrate data to NetApp filers;
- Grant users normal access to information throughout the process;
- Maintain data security permissions throughout the migration;
- Manage the project through a remote console, independent of server
source and target location;
- Install the software remotely;
- Schedule a migration therefore preserve network bandwidth; and
- Ensure that the migration is transparent to Windows NT 4.0 and Windows
2000 platforms.
