Mexico VW workers seek production compensation
MEXICO CITY, Aug 22 (Reuters) - Striking workers at the Volkswagen AG (quote from Yahoo! UK & Ireland: VOWG.F) plant in Mexico -- the only factory in the world that makes the popular New Beetle -- want wages that reward productivity, a union leader said Tuesday.

``In our company, there is not a system of (recognizing) productivity,'' said Jose Luis Rodriguez, secretary general of the union that represents workers at the Volkswagen plant in Puebla, 60 miles (100 km) east of Mexico City.

``The production figures are better every month. Since the workers do not have a productivity bonus, that is reflected in their interest in a raise in salary,'' he told Radio Formula news radio.
