Jim, you may not understand this, but some people can hold more than one idea in their head at a time, and can actually see relative merits in competing solutions. Gore's flexibility on the details indicates that he has not only thought about the implications and ramifications of decisions, but is still actively thinking about them. You can't be an effective world leader with static ideas.
