Atila the Engle-- In the spirit of being preemptive, Intel announces the 1 GHz Xeon before AMD launches Mustang/760 to maintain the appearance of being ahead. It's a lot like the paper launch of the 1.13GHz P3-- put out the press release early to make it later look like your opponent is scrambling when he launches his own equivalent a little later. I believe Elmer praised the efficacy of this strategy back in July. I, unfortunately, have to agree that it has been disturbingly successful in maintaining the corporate perception of AMD as second-string. -Eric
