By all indications, Republicans are considerably more committed to killing any nascent campaign finance reform than Democrats. The final gasp of the McCain/Feingold effort, banning soft money use by the national parties in the presidential campaign, would have hit both sides equally. The opposition wasn't so balanced, though.

Jozef Re..<Re: campaign finance reform

I don't think either party is any more serious about the issue. Politics can very costly. You have to raise money.<<<<

Jozef, are you sure you want to start another topic. I don't think we have gotten Ted to capitulate on the school voucher topic yet. You would think that with the NYSE down 200 pts he would have, but he appears more stubborn than most liberals.

By the way, I agree totally with your previous post on the teachers union. We have those problems here in that the teachers unions here have funded the school board elections for their yes men; which of course resulted in big wage increases at our expense. In addition the union head, Mr Mathews, was in cahoots with the Blue Cross ins. co. and there were charges of corruption. Subsequentially, Blue Cross lowered the bid by over 100.000 in order to keep contract with the city. Needless to say relations with the teachers and parents are at a all time low. The union has resisted any and all attempts to fire poor teachers, and has resisted all attempts to do anything which might hurt Mathews pocketbook. And that is what this 20 kids to a class drive is all about; expanding union membership so union heads pocket more money. Another reason why we need private schools and vouchers.
