Yes, Mike, not many. TiVo undoubtedly has more. I have no handle on the numbers, but I would think that the growth in sales over the past six months is accelerating for all players in this market. So the question you raise with respect to 2Q numbers is a valid one.

In January, at CES, Replay announced their partnership with Panasonic and Sharp, while TiVo announced their deal with DirecTV. Despite these announcements, it took a number of months for the products stemming from these agreements to show up store shelves.

I think key will be how quickly inventory moves come Xmas. And maybe Replay is hoping for a big boost in volume of units shipped in Q4 to get the biggest bang for its IPO buck in early Y2K+1. Dunno, just a guess.

Re: Digital TV - Replay and TiVo PVR Stats

"By the end of the year, 750,000 people will use personal video recorders like TiVo and ReplayTV, according to Forrester. By 2005, that number should reach 53 million as the devices get more widely distributed by cable companies. Time Warner Cable announced in July that it would provide cable customers in Southern California with ReplayTV units."

Thread- I found the excerpt above confusing and maybe in error? Replay has shipped 9,000 units(see linked post above). So how many has TiVo shipped? 750,000 is a big number and I don't see how it can be reached by year end unless TiVo is doing a LOT better than I thought they were. And what MSO has actually given/rented these PVRs to their subs in any significant numbers?

I was generally under the impression PVR sales were not going well at all and it would be nice to get a hold of some factual figures. -MikeM(From Florida)
