You know that's interesting TB, I seem to recall reading somewhere that the much touted Head Start programs costs approximately $6000/ per child. Imagine just giving the parents that money and letting them put it into an investment account. So if your child participated in Head Start for just say, 2 years,that would be $12,000 which could be earmarked for college. I think I would opt for the college fund instead of state subsidized baby sitting..
