CSCO's recently acquired a company called Jetcell (wireless telephony stuff). Jetcell is based on GSM, not CDMA. Just a datapoint.

Lizzie, no offense intended, but your ex doesn't know much about wireless technology either. CDMA and GSM are 2nd generation wireless technologies (2G). There are two competing 3G technologies, WCDMA and CDMA2000. QCOM receives the SAME royalty on both, has stated it publicly, and several global courts have upheld their patent claim on it. China indicated they were leaning WCDMA, however most people believe this is a negotiating tactic. Look for a reversal when the WTO vote comes in Sept. The only WCDMA negative for QCOM is that they would sell less chipsets, however they are soon to release one. Fact of the matter is QCOM holds the cards for high speed data over wireless. HDR smokes GPRS - it's starting to become known. It is a very confusing story, and most people don't understand it. However if you look at the $1.31 FY2001 earnings and the 50% EPS growth rate - QCOM's valuation is not high. Actually, it has a PEG of less than 1. Those that understand this, and purchase it at this level, will be handsomely rewarded. I purchased last year at 12, and have held. Good luck - and buy some.
