Re: I don't know which speaker this was, but I'm curious if anyone knows

Eric: I don't have the speaker sheet in front of me but one party I spoke with said part of the speaker's topic was about setting up an at-home, day-trading office. And it was the Sunday AM session which should narrow it down to 5 speakers.

Throughly enjoyed meeting everybody, (but I'm not sure anyone remembers meeting me)! <g> Guess I need to post more often.

I still a newbie. This Expo, my second, gave me enough info to take the plunge and get Level II, and direct access. I'm thinking of CyberTrade since they're Texas based like me.

An observation: There is so much hype, so much snake oil, so much pitch at the Expo, that I think most unsophisticated investors will either get swindled, or get discouraged. From my perspective, the horror stories, recalled by every speaker warning of the dangers of failing to place stops, etc., point for the need for a through understanding of the entire process before embarking upon a day-trading career.

There are the schools, the books, the tapes, the videos, the trainers, yada, yada, yada. On one hand, I'm glad all those resources are there. Regardless of your learning process, there are tools there for you. But on the other hand, parlysis for those overwhelmed by all the information. That was my reaction to my first Expo. I did start trading on e-trade with 20-minute delayed quotes after that first Expo. haha Hard to call that day-trading but overall the trades were successful.

I'm not sure how much one needs to know before starting to trade more actively. I'm sure some make their day-trading career a professional-student career. I suspect many of the readers of DF jumped in and did a lot of their learning in the white-waters.

From a newbie point-of-view, I enjoyed meeting Eric, TraderAlan, Oz in Austin, Tony Oz, learning about BrannonToni and others. The dinner and the opportunity to meet speakers and authors face to face in a non-Expo event helped me to separate the wheat from the chaff, (or is that shaft)?

Finally, Eric, you obviously did not work the Expo. I came away with 8 t-shirts although I had to suffer through a few snake-oil pitches to get them.

Kind thoughts,
jpbrooks
