Hmmm, no comment on the information in the MPF link that I posted last night???

mdronline.com

I repeat that SOI may be the big Mustang surprise that boosts performance and lowers power to the level that Corvette can be made possible.

Pravin.

Wow. That makes it officially double the cumine die, right? That plus Rambus make it look like a sure bet to break into the mass market Real Soon Now.

Somehow, I doubt this will get much emphasis in the dog and pony show coverage.

Cheers, Dan.

Eric,

re 217mm2

WOW thats HUGE.

It will be 3x as expensive in die cost as cumine even with good yields.

Thats shocking.

Hope its true.

regards,

Kash

RE:"The Pentium 4 will measure 217 square millimeters"

Whoa! That's one monster chip. Reminds me of the old Pentium and Cyrix die sizes.....

Thats only approx. 110 possible good die per 8 inch wafer....
At 70% yield that's a whopping 77 chips out of a 8 inch wafer...
Hummm...
