It did from 1776 until 1780. And pretty much did from then on until the war between the states.

The disenfranchised were African-Americans and Indians. African-Americans because many christian churches played political hardball and backed it up with passages from the "holy scriptures" supposedly "proving" that their god condoned slavery. And they wanted slavery.

The Indians because it was easier for many white men to kill them or steal their land rather than negotiate, barter, lease or pay for rights of access.

We are still paying for that hypocrisy.

No one has a right to my work, labors or creations except me. What I create cannot be taken from me because someone has a "need" for it. This is robbery plain and simple. A society that advocates this is immoral, corrupt and on the road to extinction.
