These were tied with that black (nylon?) twine. I'm sure the baler couldn't even do wire. I know they weighed well over 50 pounds but maybe just 100 toward the end of the day although 3.5' sounds about right. 1/2 as thick or less. I hated it when the ties slipped, tight as they usually were.

I don't have any need to buy any, yet, but the hay ads I've seen here goes for $7/bale! They better be huge or have filet mignon inside.

I was watching (wizzing by on the highway) a tractor wagon combo picking up bales from the ground with some kind of bale picker upper mechanism which lifted them into the wagon. Much more user friendly I thought. Just that the bales had to oriented properly on the ground for the autograbber. I could do that.
