Mula, <This is probably more significant news for IA64. Now these servers will start competing with higher end servers. As availability is of paramount need and $$$ are very high.>

You're right. Can't believe I missed this, considering this is more important to my job than some 2 GHz brag-fest (not to take anything away from this amazing feat).

<One unfortunate thing is it is demonstrated on a Linux platform. I would have preferred it to see it on a NT64 platform>

I hope it's not too long before NT64 demonstrates fail-over capabilities. That would be a "win-win" both for Intel and Microsoft.

Mula, >One unfortunate thing is it is demonstrated on a Linux platform. I would have preferred it to see it on a NT64 platform. Personal choice aside as businesses are still a little anaemic to adopting to Linux.

That is excellent that the developers from, who, Red Hat or VA Linux, and Intel, etc., have gotten all the way to making failover with clusters work. These applications, when they are ready to go, are a lot more important to IA64 than the clock frequency (assuming Itanium gets the transactions per minute it needs to). Failover, as you may know, is a feature with Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS) now for NT4.0 and W2K. Hopefully, it's in the works for 64 bit Windows also (better be).

Good IA64 News!!!
