His personal rating is, in fact, abysmally low. All that the job approval rating says is that people see that things are going well, and figure the president didn't mess up......Why do you think Bush has been running ahead, and even after the Democratic Convention bounce is statistically even, when the vice-president of this administration is the Democratic candidate?........

Job approval rating versus personal approval rating. Reagan was vilified by the Dems willing lackeys in the press. His greatest accomplishments did not become evident until after he left office. JLA
