Re: I don't see the situation at Intel to be as hopeless as you make it out to be. They are still making money on their core products. But quarter vs quarter comparisons will get increasingly difficult without the huge capital gains to add on, and with a shrinking portfolio, I don't see much future in their stock price.

I didn't say they were going to start losing money. My point is that YoY profits are going to decline regardless of how the core business does. From Q4 to Q2, Intel has taken roughly $3,500,000,000 in one time gains. Yes, that's BILLIONS.

In other words, to show a profit INCREASE, some portion of the business will have to increase PROFITS over $3,500,000,000 over that timeframe. Say the "core" business goes gangbusters and is up over $2 billion, that's still down YoY.

They are in a very difficult position unless they are able to convince the ANALysts to take out this years one time gains so they can get more favorable YoY comparisons.
