Dear Tench:

You may have not gotten what I was saying. TPM-C as designed is a stupid benchmark. It requires for each x TPM-C to have one more client CPU with all the associated infrastructure in the cost portion. The amount of wasted power in the clients is staggering. If the clients were not counted in the cost, then my major problem with this benchmark (and yours) would go away. As it is, the clients scale linearly with the score. Then the cheapest clients that can do the job (when the low end CPU is very powerful compared to the small client load), will always outshine the server back end. Even "used" computers are more than powerful enough (read: we give them to you to save the costs of disposal).

I wonder if, in the interests of getting rid of this old albatross, the internet could serve as the client simulated by a not costed internet simulator (could be very well defined). This is the typical load now for these types of applications anyway.
