Hi Unclewest,

Great car tag. Does Hihiker stand for Hawaiin Hiker? Maybe HItch HIKER from the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy?

I am convinced that every yacht owner will want a G* phone. While probably not required to sell substantial #'s of phones to yacht owners, I think some refinement is required for G* to become the ultimate yacht phone.
1)Ruggedize the phone to handle salt spray conditions so that the phone can be used in moderate conditions, 15-25 knot breezes, should the need arise.
2)Develop a cradle (marine kit) for the ruggedized phone so that only one phone is needed to outfit the yacht. Then, the ruggedized phone/marine kit combo will become the yacht's data link.

Question for you and other the other rf experts on this thread. Would a communcations link between the satellites and a G* phone be maintained assuming that the marine kit G* antenna was pitching back and forth on top of a sailboat mast? Or, would the marine kit antenna need to be placed closer to the deck to minimize the pitching motion? I don't recall any testing of this sort being discussed.

Best regards,
