Why make DDR if Intel will not use it.

Look at updated roadmap please.
Note the dip in DDR use.
Uh - where did it go.

How's it going Jim? Good to be back on line. New job starts next week, so I'll probably go back to lurk mode for a while.

Great stuff appearing on Yahoo this AM and last PM.

This one from hOdb:

<<Sorry to bombard the board, but this site has a bunch of good stuff and is fairly free of bias. He's no fan of Rambus, but he calls 'em as he sees 'em.

overclockers.com

These are his readers' comments on AMD chips. Here's a gist:

"... the alternative has to make a clear case that it is better and worth the extra cost, and that hasn't happened yet with most people. This is not so good for AMD in the short term.

It's happened with some, the comments somewhat underrepresent the proportion of people who have actually bought already, since the buyers didn't usually go into why. About 15% of the respondents have either already bought, or will buy shortly.

I think the general attitude is "wait and see." Given that most of the participants appear to have Intel machines running at 800Mhz or better, it's understandable they want some more improvement for their buck than they can get from the current offerings."

Looks like AMD has pissed off or unimpressed their core constitutiency--hobbyests and overclockers. It's even worse for the OEMs: AMD has no new wins, and Gateway, IBM, Compaq are selling more Intel Inside boxes than ever before. I think it's very telling (and weird) that MicronPC does NOT offer a T-bird alternative, give all the shit MU has dealt to Intel over the past year.>>

Contrast this with the "DDR design wins" BS flowing on this board.
