gutting the military NPR played Junior-George's speech and Gore's speech side by side tonight, and followed it with interviews with the VFW members in attendance. Junior got creamed with his depiction of a sad military, demorilized and ready for defeat. The VFW members all still knew active members, who may have gripes but all understood that the military is not fighting WWII anymore nor the cold war and has to regroup for the actual threats we face. The VFW members all indicated they were leaning toward Gore, not only because he is a member, but because he understood the role of the military, and the hopes and fears of the soldiers. Scratch another constituency for the GOP. TP
