Knock this talk off; you are terrifying me ! My first is on the way in 7 weeks; guess Tekboy can share first hand nightmares (as I'm sure you all can) and give me the fore-warnings.

Good grief, no need to be terrified! I can honestly say that I envy the position that both you and Tekboy are in. However, my wife won't agree with me on having a third child in this life.

Having a child and entering parenthood is one of the most delightful experiences one can experience in life. My wife and I were 'older' than the traditional first time parents due to our careers and getting married later than what the historic norms before us were. That's probably why the 'lack of sleep the first two years' hit me so hard and remains in my memory. In my 20's I could get by with less sleep and still have plenty of energy. However, in my 30's, that changed and I'm just happy to be on this side of the equation where I've been sleeping well for the past three years. Our experience was unique because we combined the forces of several major transitions in our lives all at the same time: having two small children - one a newborn, selling our house, moving overseas, new job and learning another language. That's enough fuel to keep one challenged and line the pockets of a good therapist for several years. <ggg>

Don't be terrified. Be energized.
