Not necessary for intraday or very ST trading... but it helps to know the terrain on the next hill...

Knowing what's around the next corner, helps in making buy and sell decisions. A good trader should never buy stocks when they're overbought and riding nothing but air and momentum, nor should he buy a stock with resistance only a point away; both cases of course can be overridden by quick triggers but good risk management tells you to stay away. Some "thinking" people are doing the same as you,.. so one may ask, who's left playing the stock (if it's running)? Pure gamblers in one corner and the uninitiated (harsh word: idiot) on the other, watching each other and passing around the almost empty bag... daring each other to blink first.

Susan, earthquakes? I was just getting off the Oakland Bay bridge when it collapsed in '89, missed that by 20 secs., and was 5 minutes in front of the freeway that sandwiched. One reason we're no longer there. Here, only hurricanes and tornadoes. As Roseanne Roseannadanna used to say, it's always something...
