CASHSWISS - I'm glad you made it clear that you meant the semiconductor division because I was beginning to wonder what you were thinking.<g> Actually, JPSI does have some exciting new products -- and remember - this division was the "bread and butter" of the company in years past until the disk drive business went into a slump. Now JPSI doesn't rely on the disk drive business as much, and is concentrating more on measuring and inspection systems for the semiconductor, biotech and flat panel display industries. The new Atomic Force Microscope seems promising as it could be used in a number of manufacturing applications. It is more effecient than the scanning electron microscope that is used now for high resolution defect detection and therefore, it saves production time and money for the user. For example, with the AFM, you can set coordinates and locate a specific area very easily. The scanning electron microscope doesn't allow this, so you have to scan the whole surface in order to find something. (I used to be an electron microscopy technician, so I know how hard it can be to find a spot that's a few nanometers in size.) This microscope is a pretty "high ticket item", so don't count it out as a revenue producer.

I still haven't gone over my tape from the annual meeting, but if I can find the time, I might be able to add some more details to the notes from the meeting.

Regarding the "alphabet soup" of JMAR companies - I agree that it's very confusing. I think that calling each division by it's full name rather than initials is better.

I think JMAR is giving a lot of consideration to marketing. When I spoke with Dr. Martinez at the SH meeting, he indicated that he was more inclined to use the advertising resources in industry publications. I think he feels like spending money on publications like the Red Chip Review is not the best of investments. I think some some of these companies require some kind of fee to cover these emerging companies but I may be wrong. Anyone knowing more in this area please correct me...

I agree with Dr. Martinez. Why should JMAR pay some analyst to promote the company. Maybe that's why JMAR is where it is today...
