Yes. And those ads tend to fail to sell product.

AMD's ad was a new low. Basically, I came out of it with the impression that buying an AMD ATHLON would make the buyer an inherently louder and more annoying person.

All AMD had to do is put up a simple computer graphic demo with a voiceover saying "The AMD Athlon processor offers the fastest PC experience with incredible 3D processing ability and unimaginable internet web surfing power. With by far the most stability in its class [errata comparison betw. Athlon and PIII pops up onto the bottom of the screen], and prices up to fifty percent lower than the leading brand, the AMD Athlon processor is the unbeatable choice for your next PC computer".

BTW, all, I apologize to resorting to drivel in that quote. People would, in fact, still complain about this commercial (especially the internet crap and the "PC computer" oopsie). But this commercial would be much more effective than the Train commercial, it would be much cheaper to produce, it would be a cheaper sell since it'd have a slightly shorter runtime ... the term "etcetera" comes to mind.

Oh, I should also note that conservative business types would react better to a conservative ad such as the one above, as opposed to death metal style crap like the Train commercial.

To be sincere, I found it "powerful" the first time I saw it on my Media Player...reminded me one Road-Runner episode

My recollection is that unless you were paying very close attention, it looked like the AMD processor was causing the train to crash.
