European B2B to reach £4 trillion
by 2004
Consumer e-commerce will make up more than
6% of European trade by 2004, a survey by the
London Chamber of Commerce predicted today.

European Internet consumer trade is forecast to
reach £1.6 trillion, while business-to-business
trade is predicted to be at about £4 trillion by this
time.

The survey by the LCC revealed ‘spectacular
growth’ in the number of manufacturers using
their websites for trading, with 29% of them now
using this channel. Around 62% of retailers do
business over the Internet. The survey also found
that 88% of all companies now operate a
website, up from 65% in 1998.
