Speaking of shopping ---

I've noticed the annoying practice of allowing staff to play their own 'music' even though the store has the piped-in variety already. The customers, hearing both, enjoy neither.

On the topic of in-store sound, who ever decided that the floor models in TV stores should be tuned to different stations and have the sound at full blast? I needed a new TV and had to leave two stores with a headache. The third place, I phoned ahead and made an appointment for a 'silent' demonstration. Being able to hear the employee's pitch closed the sale. As for record shops: Forget it!

Cheers, PW.

P.S. Where I buy groceries, they play 'oldies' at reasonable levels. I can't count how many times I've pushed the cart down just one more aisle so I'd hear the song finish. Wouldn't you know it, I've even seen, and bought, more stuff. In-store music can work both ways.

I need to merge into the lane next to me on the highway but when the driver in that lane sees my blinker she speeds up to close the gap.
