I don't have the Thinkpad info at my fingertips, but I recall IBM announcing that the Aptivas were to be built in the far east (Taiwan I believe), several years back.

Charles, I believe you are correct on that. Solectron has picked up a tremendous amount of chip business from companies which went fabless. Of course, IBM did not go fabless but I believe I have even seen press releases about IBM/Solectron deals. But I don't know if it is a complete PC manufacturing sub. That I don't think is the case. I think it would be at the component level.
