Where in that quote did Pijpker say that Compaq asked Intel to cancel the Xeon 800?

The entire quote was in generalities.

I guess you missed the ENTIRE point. Dan was putting forth the ASSUMPTION that intel cancelled the 800MHz Xeon because of some manufacturing problem. Weather Compaq APECIFICALLY stated "STOP MAKING THEM", or only "suggested" they stop making them, is irrelevant.

The point is.... NO MANUFACTURING PROBLEM WITH XEON 800MHZ EXISTS.....

Got it now??????

I guess you missed the ENTIRE point. Dan was putting forth the ASSUMPTION that intel cancelled the 800MHz Xeon because of some manufacturing problem, and Ali Chen suggested they were lying about there not being a manufacturing problem.

Weather Compaq SPECIFICALLY stated "STOP MAKING THEM", or only "SUGGESTED" or "INFERRED" that they should stop making them, is irrelevant. They said they don't want 100MHz bumps in speed.

The point is.... NO MANUFACTURING PROBLEM WITH XEON 800MHZ EXISTS.....

Got it now??????

GV,

re: "The entire quote was in generalities."

But why are you assuming they are lying, rather than assuming they are telling the truth? I'm fairly cynical, but it sounds logical to me. And they are now introducing a high speed Xeon, which lends substance to the story.
