I remember the very first airplane flight I took. (I am now a gold medallion flyer.)

I was in my early 20's and a friend was flying to San Diego from Long Beach to see a mutual client. He had a Cessna twin. He ask me to join him, I reluctantly agreed. When we arrived at his hanger we passed a helicopter and his comment was. "You'll never get me in one of those, God didn't mean for them to fly."

You'll never get me in one either. <ggg>

Our Hawaii helicopter pilot was ex-Nam too -- we took the long version, where you cross the entire Big Island, land at Hilo to refuel, then buzz into the canyons along the Northern shore. And the soundtrack -- no Michael Jackson, we got Ride of the Valkyries to start out (you remember that one -- made more famous as the music in Apocalypse Now that they blared out of the helicopter because "it scares the sh*t out of the natives....").

It took me a week to talk my wife into going on the ride, and she seemed a bit nervous at times <g>, but afterward she thanked me....
