IMPORTANT: . . . . Vacations Away from Trading / Can You Pull Away? . . . .

. . . Vacations away from trading are not only good for your portfolio during volatile sideways months. . but are EXCELLENT for your health. Trading can be very addictive. So it is IMPORTANT to pull completely away now and then, and resist all temptation to trade. . . .you can keep your long-term positions [long or short], but just don't trade them. Best during this time away from trading to not go to Vegas, Aruba, etc.

If you could go back 4 years and pick through the best months to trade, you would probably be surprised to see that most years only have about 2 or 3 months which had terrific returns. . . .the rest were mediocre to poor. If we knew precisely when those "surge months" were to begin and end, we could all do very well with a minimum of effort.

Staying away from the markets for a while is good for regaining perspective as well. It is very very easy to not see the forest for the trees. . . .especially with the media and their pumping of brokerage propaganda.

As for Addictive Trading. . .otherwise known as Compulsive Gambling. . . .If you have lost all track of time, been late to meetings, missed important appointments, forgotten picking up a family member, shuffled funds without the knowledge of your spouse or became over-extended at home due to your trading of stocks. . . YOU may have a problem! Those are the early-warning signs. I don't want to tell you where such a problem can lead, but like any holic behavior, it can get very ugly . . .very quickly.

If you are beginning to show the above signs, write me. I will happily consult with you in Private Messaging or email [Rande@writeme.com]. . . and help you to determine the proper solution. If you are too embarrassed to use your SI identity or regular email address, go to www.mail.com and sign up for a Free Email account. . .be sure to forward it to your regular account. . then send me an ANONYMOUS EMAIL.
