The question might be is Intel faced with a truly discontinuous or a continuous innovation? I don't know?

My sense is that it is significantly discontinuous in a variety of ways. It sure changes the architecture of the applications.

I suppose one of the big questions is what percentage of systems, existing and future, are affected. As pointed out, one might well have other applications on the same system that keep one on the curve and this is likely to slow the transition at the very least. But, it is an architecture which has the potential to move us back in the direction of very simple desktop boxes, possibly not even PCs.
