In principle you are correct. Yet, in practice there is going to be a long time lag between unification ( which itself will take time) and actual North Korean contribution to the total economic output of the unified Korea. The example in front of us is the behavior and ability of the economy of East Germany. So far, East Germany has been a drain to West Germany and East Germans yearn for the old days and regime. Although we don't have to stipulate the reasons for such a behavior, what is important here is also the fact that contrary to North Koreans who are farmers for the most part, East Germans have a tremendous tradition in sciences and engineering. Therefore, what holds for East Germany will also hold for Korea.
