why would ibm refuse to purchase over half of msft when bill offered it to them 15+ years ago? to believe business folks are omniscient is naive.

i have explained why amzn can't be very successful - they may not go under, but they also won't make significant money.

the bulls made their case several years ago and the results have not panned out. i remember profitability in 1999. why did these folks believe 1999 would be profitable? why were they wrong? then, 2000. why were they wrong.

no, god knows when.

i said 3 years ago amzn wouldn't be profitable in 1999, 2000, nor anytime soon. why was i right?

the net hype has engrossed many executives who want to feel part of the "new economy." i think they would rather be wrong with everyone else than risk bucking the trend and being wrong.

a strange type of zitgeist (sp??). folks just aren't acting rational.

if toys r us levereged their business on the success of amzn then they are dumb. if amzn suffers and toys r us can still trot along w/o too much trouble then it is a win / win for toys r us.

why would they partner with a company they thought would go under? Whats in it for them.

Amazon will get them through this year. Toy R Us is not ready both in servers, customer service and distribution. The term of the deal, ten years, is meaningless if Amazon folds. Also, deals are broken all the time in this high ethical business world;-)

The answer is that toys r us can't execute and needs amazon as much as amazon needs a
cash infusion.

Liz you are correct as ususal. That may or may not be true next year. I do not even know which way the pendulum will swing. I will repeat what I believe to be Toy R Us main concern. It is Wal-mart and not on-line. It is a bad sign for the largest toy specialy retailer to bo outsold by a mass marketing giant. For what it is worth, Wal-mart is also the largest jewelry seller in the world too. The largest music seller. Should I go on???
