Slacker thanks - How do you make the connection between the MSM chipset and the particular model? In reading the distinction beween the 3100 and the 3000 it appeared that there is a different CMOS process and an improvement in energy efficiency so that is why I thought the use of the MSM3100 would also confer some improvements in talktime and standby time. True though that one would have to control for the battery size.

Slacker,

<< The Audiovox9000 definitely has the MSM3100 and is available from Verizon >>

A comment on the Audiovox9000. When I purchased mine at the local Verizon outlet late April the sales rep (who was trying talk me into the tri-mode StarTac because of availability of accessories) told me the 9000 had the best battery life of any phone the store.

He was correct. Battery life is awesome. I sometimes wonder if the battery display is working because it discharges so slowly. I use both the standard and the extended battery. Unlike the ThinPhone, you use one or the other, they don't piggyback like the ThinPhone.

Sales Rep was right about the lack of accessories. The hands free kit release has been postponed for the 3rd consecutive month and although the data cable has supposedly finally been released it is not stock the area Verizon stores yet.

<< I cant imagine that the battery in the Thinphone is very big, probably less than 800mAH which is sort of standard >>

It is not very big, but there are an optional thin extended and thick extended and a charger that will charge the phone with one piggybacked and the other in the cradle at the same time.
