Carl, on the embedded topic, did you pick up this rather intriguing little tidbit from mdronline.com I posted elsewhere? Getting Results: eCache on a PC Platform Dean Klein - VP of Integrated Products, Micron Technology, Inc. Formal introduction of Mamba, Micron's PC system chip incorporating embedded DRAM, an AMD Athlon interface, and many additional system-oriented features. If Micron could put, say, 64mbit= 8 megabytes of embedded DRAM on a northbridge memory controller, which seems doable as pure dram goes to 256mb/chip it would make quite an effective 3rd level of cache, it seems.
