Re: I think you owe this thread an apology for your patronizing attitude. Either that, or some of us might have to patronize you every time you take Jerry Sanders' statements at face value.

Hmmm... OK, I'll bite. What recent statement of Jerry Sanders do you find ludicrous? That AMD would ship 1GHZ chips in volume so that you'd be able to walk into a store and walk out with a 1GHZ system?

Intel does one heck of a job communicating with customers...

So why the surprise regarding Xeon demand? AMD's had delays of its own. It's DDR and SMP chipsets are later than had been hoped. But Jerry isn't claiming that the chipsets are ready to go but the OEMs don't want them.

The computer business is one that creates miracles on a regular basis. The CPUs, chipsets, memory chips, etc. are simply fantastic, and get more fantastic with each release. Sometimes, miracles take a little longer than planned or hoped for, and sometimes products make it almost to the delivery stage before it becomes apparent that a little more time is needed.

You are convinced that the large cache 800MHZ Xeons are boxed up and ready to go and that Intel is refusing to sell them to anyone because Compaq asked them to. We've all expressed our conclusions and I won't bring it up again on the thread.
