One possible solution is that the old chip is quite slow. A new Strond arm based solution could emulate the instruction set of the Dragonball processor, thus preserving binary compatability.

Maybe all you need to do is to hit the compile button.

The same problem of trying to run windows apps on a mac.

Actually, people do this every day. Not only can they run Windows apps using something called Virtual PC, they can also turn their Macs into a Playstation, of all things.

I've never programmed for the PALM, but if the environment is such that there are only API calls and nothing deeper, compiling to a new instruction set is no more difficult than choosing that option from a compiler menu. Of course, nothing in life is every quite *that* easy, but I do not see this as a major problem.

Now, the guys who ported linux to a Palm, they'll have a little more work ahead of them. :-)
