lol...i just found a picture of the absolutely deadly six-eyed crab spider...looks quite harmless actually. may i introduce, the death dealer, Sicarius hahnii:

Sicarius under the sand, where he spends most of his life, waiting for prey:

another dangerous cytotoxic spider, Loxosceles parrami, a.k.a. the Violin spider:

a close relative of the American brown recluse spider, a.k.a. Fiddleback. its bite leads to necrotic arachnidism, whereby the tissue around the bite essentially begins to rot .

last but not least, the long-legged sac spider, Cheiracanthium fulcatum, another heavily cytotoxic bugger. the wounds it inflicts don't heal for months, in some cases years. in some cases only amputation of the limbs involved emerged as a viable solution. it is well known for being one of only three animals on earth to attack humans unprovoked (the others being the White shark and the Nile crocodile...i guess we can add hungry lions too). it is extremely aggressive, and likes to jump and bite anything that as much as moves:

90% of all spider bites requiring hospitalization in Southern Africa are the result of encounters with Violin and Sac spiders. the cytotoxic venoms are extremely complex, containing between 38 and 42 high-molecular substances, both peptide toxins and enzymes of the phospholipase and hyaluronidase types. no antidotes exist.

when bitten, remain calm...except when bitten by Sicarius, in which case it doesn't matter....-g-
