I guess I'm missing the finer point here. Why would 3COM benefit if PALM goes up?

P.S. You do know that 3COM has divested all its shares in PALM to the 3COM shareholders.

Any ideas, how much benifit 3COMS will get when PALM
goes way up?

None, unless you own the "old" COMS call options (THB.. etc) which still carry (1.484 x PALM + COMS).

one possible tie between the two companies is 3com's plan to use the palm os on their kitchen appliance...

someone please correct me if i have that fact wrong.

point being, the two companies are not completely disengaged, as it were.
