Michael,
I don't think you were around last summer. This is the way the stock moved then. In spurts. Up and down. With a flat line (relatively speaking) breaking up the spurts. For those of us who have been around for several years, this price doesn't feel especially high, or unwarranted (at least not for this person). Perhaps we can say that one of our speculations about why the stock was depressed may have been at least partially true--that the perception of Seagate's selling (or threatened selling) was keeping keeping people out of the market, and once that was done, the stock was taking off. Of course, Steve or Larry will undoubtedly jump on me for that--after all, the coincidence of the two doesn't necessarily mean that one caused the other. True enough. Larry might say that once the 76 level was broached, that gave TA folk the all-clear. But of course, that doesn't say why the 76 level was breeched at the exact time that we receive confirmation that Seagate finished selling their shares.

In the end, it is usually a confluence of factors--market, sector, and individual stock related--that can't be exactly quantified that make the spurts happen. And it is faith in management that allows me, at least, to hold during times like the past 4 or 5 months. I owe thanks to the thread--especially Ausdauer--for help in maintaining that faith with great fundamental analysis.

Sam

I guess the fact that earnings are (dare I say) 99.9% predictable (due to the supply/demand of chips), we are seeing mo-mo's enter the fray. A word of caution (from my learning curve) the higher they climb, the potential for it to go the other way is just as great.

The book to bill release let out the hounds!

Did Gilder say anything yesterday in relation to SNDK?

Very happy (at the moment),

John
