In it, one character relates a trip he once took to the Galapagos Islands, and how he witnessed a bunch of birds pick up turtles' eggs, fly to a height, and drop them to smash on the rocks below, for no apparent reason. He says that on that day, he feared that he was seeing the true face of God. Now, I do not believe that is the true face of God, but I also do not believe that "the universe is a massive, constant expression of one thing:LOVE." There is too much cruelty and horrific waste for me to believe that. I think that God made the world perfect, and that the sin of some of his creatures has corrupted it. To me, there are only two real alternatives: belief in some version of a Fall, or atheism. Spinoza did the best he could with pantheism, by suggesting that what seemed bad was so only from a limited perspective, but I cannot believe that the Holocaust, or the Ukrainian terror famine, or, for that matter, a kid getting hit by a car, is good from a more comprehensive perspective. I can believe that, in the end, God will make everything right, but that admits that there is something to grieve over in the first place.........>> Destruction, waste, pain, anger and hate are real-world perversions which are nothing more than attempts to confuse and delude us into withdrawing more of the timeless/sacred values which tap into the incredible power we each have as individuals: trust and the energy of love. Hitler started a massive, evil black hole by assigning blame and then dictating power and control over the time and trust of others. All it would have taken is the energy and power of ONE individual to stop Hilter. But the world winked/blinked and said "let's not go there" until too much time had lapsed and we were forced to accept the responsibility to stand up for the rights of individuals to live in freedom. But these jobs are never "finished." No sooner was Hitler defeated then another black hole presented itself in the form of communism. And when we judge these black holes we unknowingly withdraw our trust and give up our energy which only feeds them. Eventually we must move away from judging and embrace the realm of RISK to stand for something. Evil can only exist in a vacume trap of time where there's no light and love. Each time we fail to take responsibility for our rights, power and freedoms as individuals to experience and share joy and happiness, we allow someone/somewhere/sometime to not only steal the priceless eggs of trust and love, but drop them from the sky into this dark ocean of fear and hate which we know as this world. It doesn't have to be this way. I believe we all have the power to "change the world." For we all possess the same timeless, universallly connected sacred energy and power of light and love. Whether we chose to have faith to "let GO" and believe this is the $64,000 question. Sorry if this sounds arrogant or "know-it-allish." I'm simply sharing energy and feelings. Peace. .
