PLCO Announces 30% SALES Growth (PR NEWSWIRE) Play Co. Toys & Entertainment Corp. Announces 30% Sales Growth Growth In July and Sees an End to Same Store Sale Declines in August

SAN MARCOS, Calif., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Play Co. Toys & Entertainment Corp. (OTC Bulletin Board: PLCO) ("Play Co. Toys" or the "Company" for Play
Co. Toys and subsidiaries collectively) announced today that it posted an
overall sales growth of 30% during the month of July 2000 compared to the
previous July.
Richard Brady, Chief Executive Officer stated, "We are happy to report the
30% increase in July sales. While we are pleased with this overall increase,
our same store sales for July remained in a negative position, which was a
continuation of the pattern in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2000 that arose
out of our strong sales of Beanie Babies in the prior year. However, the 7.4%
decline in same store sales in July represented a significant improvement from
the levels of same store sales declines in the recently ended fiscal year."
"We feel that our buyers have worked hard to overcome the same store sales
hurdles imposed by our Beanie Baby sales in the prior year and we believe that
our same store sales results should begin to turn positive again in the month
of August."
Play Co. Toys is a toy retailer with 34 stores located in nine states.
30 of those stores are operated by the Toys International subsidiary. The
Company operates under the Play Co. Toys, Toys International and Toy Co.
