If there wasn't a sense of leadership and vision for the timeless values of freedom, justice and love it would have been impossible for the free world to embrac GO - risk - and defeat Hitler. There was a vertical/spiritual dimension, but ironically WWII also provided the underpinning for the rise in the power of government which has been trying to beat back and reduce more examples of GO our lives by providing more security. Security is an illusion. The only security we have is the energy inside us as it's expressed in the faith and power to risk. Since WWI we've witnessed the rise of this secular, horizontal/literal State Of NO. Sure, we defeated Hitler, but Hitler was an evil catalyst. He's still around. Just has taken on different clothing. The enemy "be US." Our son, Thomas, uses a phrase which he thinks means "kiss" - he calls a kiss a "be us." We must learn the value of kissing - forgiving - and loving the enemy inside us. Peace. .
