This is the all-time ridiculous post / argument. Calling the dictionary definition inapplicable / incorrect.

Why do you assume Merriam's is correct? Other dictionaries don't agree. More importantly you have to think for yourself, but you are so busy assuming authority is right that you can only think narrowly. This is a major problem in academia and the result is that schools produce "engineers", narrow minded individuals who can do one thing with mediocrity, but who believe that they know much about other things. It's pure pretense and it is why ATHM is failing.

That summaries ahhaha's ridiculous nature in a nutshell. After such a ridiculous statement, it's not worth tearing apart his post for its inherant errors.

Your attempt to hide from the fact that you are in shreds won't work. You only show that you are a slave to authority. When people have this kind of attitude, nothing creative can come from them. They can only ape what someone else has said in executing their orders. This is termed "groupthink" but I wouldn't expect you to know that. They don't teach you how to think at the university these days and you wouldn't want to know. It might interfere with the amount of money you think your so called education entitles you.

>>>>Tell those hacks at Merriam that I'm calling them out and claiming they're frauds.<<<

I had a wonderful history teacher who would never let you quote an "expert" without saying the words "According to...." in front of what you said. It seemed silly at the time yet as I get older I know exactly why he required that phrase. For the most part the experts don't agree on anything and lots of times they are just plain wrong.

Think about the definition you posted and what Ah had an objection to, which was the inclusion of the third party. Now if you and I decide to have a foot race around the block to see who is faster, is this competition and where is the third party?

A dictionary attempts to give a definition of a word that word may have several different definitions .

There is no greater fool than the fool that fools himself. And in in truth if English this language of ours was properly defined their would be few attourneys.

A soul brother told me that Ahhaha's Gremlin "went south" (that's bad,AFU,inop). Ahhaha has since been seen driving his mothers rusted out Toyota.

Ok, ahhaha, time for you to go and impress some freshman in class with your big words (and then drive home in your Gremlin).
