Don,

I just checked out their video on the DSL. A talking head against a monochrome background, so there is not much to go by. A good picture, but not better than AXC, maybe not quite as good . . . there was an aura around the head (this is sometimes present in the AXC picture but it was always present in theirs).

In any case, my thinking is that we are actually better off with a little competition out there, it means acceptance of the medium. Just so we become the Big Monkey.

Don,
Went and looked. My DSL still herky jerky on Real Player as it is on EXBTV and IstyleTV. Windows Media Player looked much better, but neither RP or MP allow doubling the size (just original or Full screen). What has really impressed me is a site offering a slice of live in the downtown LA ghetto 24/7 using FREE software and cheap Hardware under $1000 total using an old VCR camera and a generic $50 WINTV card. (camera purposely a bit out of focus to protect the guilty)Check it out at:

don lapre , dont know if you frequent the ampex club anymore but someone left u a message here it is:
To don lapre on SI. I followed your link to the Hugh Downs on my 56kps dial up from Japan(not Tokyo) and chose the "high" switch. The streaming quality cannot be an issue because of my connectoin, but the picture quality was terrific and rivals that of the hi-definition TV broadcasts that has been available in Japan for a few years now. Such quality has only been viewable on hi-definition TVs, and it was a great feeling to see it come off an Ampex site and viewable on my personal computer. Of course, I only rarely saw a smooth streamed clip, but the still frames enabled me to compare the quality in detail (some benefit, at least!) All the pages in the syndication site give a choice of high or low bandwith. There is some very well done stuff in travel and fashion as well. Could this be ITG II, or better yet, only ITG I given a broadband pipe?
