Carranza. On HDR rates. This is the extent of the info I've seen. Operators that buy expensive unneded spectrum are simply paying extra taxes to Euro governments. They will be OK until they must compete with an operator who simply switches existing spectrum over to CDMA. I suppose the Euro Socialist governments may protect the newly fleeced operators by preventing CDMA from entering Europe.

Is the Q involved with Samsung's technology?

Paul Jacobs, new-QCOM's President, describes Samsung as QCOM's closest working partner. He said this in response to a question I asked him at a Gilder conference last summaer.

Also, in an Alex Cena-led conference call with Samsung in May of this year, the Samsung folks made it very clear they are in the CDMA (not WCDMA) camp.

I would have to believe Samsung is applying/manufacturing what QCOM is inventing.

1X EV is HDR - this was the same as the MOT announcment they are endorsing 1X EV (HDR) last week. How could QCOM not be involved with Samsung's technology.

Regards.
